Specifically, when rice branches, the worms will move into the lower part of the stem, cutting off the internal organization, destroying the sap conducting function, causing young leaves to turn yellow and wither. By the time the rice stands at the rice stalk, the worms concentrate on destroying the inside of the sheath and punching into the tube, damaging the rice stalk. During the rice flowering period, the worm bores into the flower stalk, cutting off the nutrient transport of the flower, causing the rice flower to not bloom or the grain to be flat (white flower).

How to effectively prevent stem borers?

·         Choose healthy, strong-growing rice varieties that are resistant to pests and diseases.

·         If the previous crop had stem borers, the pupae may be hidden in the stubble. You need to burn the straw and turn the soil over, then flood it with water to destroy it.

·         When sowing, you need to pay attention to sowing density, do not sow too thickly for easy care.

·         Apply balanced fertilizer, do not fertilize with excess nitrogen, and at the same time add necessary nutrients to rice.

·         Spray insecticide to prevent stem borers at the time of rice flowering.

·        
Regularly visit the fields to determine the right time and pests causing harm. Pesticides should be sprayed when the larvae first hatch to achieve the highest effectiveness.
